The Alistair McCulloch Trio returns this summer with its ‘Off the Hook’ Scottish Tour. This is the 18th year of touring for the renowned group showcasing internationally acclaimed fiddler McCulloch, whistle wizard and former Capercaillie member Marc Duff, and former “Scottish Folk Instrumentalist of the Year” Aaron Jones of Old Blind Dogs and the Kate Rusby Band playing bouzouki, guitar and vocals.
Alistair McCulloch is in constant demand as a performer, teacher and composer with three highly acclaimed solo albums and the ‘Alistair McCulloch Tunebooks’ to his name. He is fiddle tutor at the Royal Consevatoire of Scotland and a founder member of the famous ceilidh band ‘Coila’ Recently Alistair has toured in New Zealand Australia, China and throughout Europe and North America.
Alistair’s fiddling combined with one of the finest whistle players in Europe, Marc Duff, and critically acclaimed performer, producer and accompanist, Aaron Jones, creates a unique sound which appeals to both the traditionalists and the progressives. From driving traditional tunes and modern day compositions, to the emotive tones of Alistair’s airs and the lyrical songs of Aaron Jones, the innovative programme has something for everyone.
